The Four-Layer Strategy for Ultimate Comfort and Adaptability
Whether making our way through town, navigating the work day or exploring trails further afield - comfort is always key. A comprehensive clothing layering system comprises four specialized layers of clothing designed to maximize comfort, warmth, and adaptability across diverse weather conditions.
1. Base Layer: Breathable, next-to-skin comfort.
2. Mid Layer: Provides warmth without excessive bulk.
3. Insulation Layer: Extra warmth and adaptability for extreme cold or highly variable environments.
4. Outer Layer (Shell): Prevents moisture and wind from penetrating the inner layers.
Base Layer
To build a successful outfit, it's essential to begin with a strong foundation. While traditional base layers prioritize performance fabrics for outdoor activities, our products are designed with a different goal in mind. We prioritize next-to-skin comfort, which we believe sets our Suvin and Siro cotton tees apart. These tees are exceptionally soft and smooth, ensuring a comfortable feel against your skin. Even as your body temperature fluctuates, they remain highly breathable.
Mid Layer
With comfort secured - the next step is to add some depth and warmth. Typically, this is achieved by trapping air using a lofty fabric with a looser weave than a base layer. For us, it is no different. We have developed a variety of mid-layer options including knits, fleece, and liners that will provide you lightweight heat retention and breathability.
Insulated Layer
When the temperatures drop the need to expand on your heat retention quickly becomes apparent. Insulating layers offer additional warmth and a barrier to the wind to keep the chill at bay. Using similar principles to mid layers, but more substantially, fabrics like GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER®, Loro Piana Storm System® and Primaloft use their loft and layers to trap heat. Ensuring you are warm on the coldest of days.
Outer Layer
Your final line of defence against the elements is your shell. Its job is to prevent moisture and wind from penetrating the inner layers. This is where our line of GORE-TEX outerwear comes in. Waterproof, windproof, durable and breathable they are designed to withstand the harshest conditions.
