Apologies on the lack of updates to the Journal. The team has been swamped with a bunch of projects, and we are now trying to play catch up on some recent happenings. Kicking things off just two weeks after Paris, was my first stop of the season in Tokyo.
Visiting the visvim Tokyo showroom to preview the entire SS15 collection.
Got my caffeine jolt and checked out the new visvim coffee bar/ shop ‘Litte Cloud Coffee’.
The shop has a great view and patio that overlooks Omatesando. Definitely check it out, grab a coffee and kick back if you have the chance.
One of my favourite shops in Tokyo is Takahiro Miyashita’s flagship ‘Grocerystore’. Small shop but great product… too bad they didn’t have my size in a bunch of stuff…
The Pool Aoyama
Timeline is kinda all over the place here….but two weeks later I was back in Tokyo to do our Japan buys for CDG Homme, Ganryu and EYE by Junya Watanabe….The pic above is from CDG Homme Plus. We don’t carry Homme Plus at the shop, but maybe we should…..shoes look interesting to say the least!
Serious business at Ganryu
Selfie!! ….This Ganryu 60/40 Two Tone Coach Blazer in is one of my personal favourites for next season.
Nice summer Chuck flips from CDG Homme.
Visited General Nigo at his new 2-5 Cafe and checked out Human Made for this upcoming season. Best season yet.
Wacko Fucking Maria!
Shogo know’s whats up…
Super legit lounge gear!
Atsuhiko Mori was previously a professional Soccer player, now he runs the show at Wacko Maria and makes crazy shit.
My friend Shin Okishima brought a gang of us to this killer Yakitori spot in Ginza called Takechan. Highly recommended.
This spot has been around for decades. The owner himself sits behind the U-shaped counter to count the eaten Yakitori skewers and tallies everyones bills. Like a boss!
Next stop was to visit the NBHD Headquarters…lots of cool stuff in the works.
Adidas x NBHD!
Stay tuned for more highlights.
This past weekend we had the opportunity to host our first Trunkshow with visvim. Located at our new Gastown Vancouver location at 52 East Cordova invited guests were able to preview select pieces from next seasons SS15 collection. Here are a few shots of the space.
The other week I was just out in Tokyo again for the 4th round of our Japanese FW14 buying schedule. Hectic! Typically me and Dan rarely travel to Tokyo together, but this time around both of us went, as well as our photographer/videographer Ryan Lindow joined the ride. We had the opportunity to check out some unchartered territory in Tokyo, Fun times for sure! It’s also been awhile since we’ve done some Intelligence coverage in Japan, and we made it a big priority to get some footage of people and places. We have some really cool interviews and features in the pipeline that we’ll be rolling out in the next few months. Stay tuned. We also finished up the final round of our Tokyo buying for the season, and each and every brand is killing it for Fall 2014. Summer is just around the corner, but already I can’t wait for Fall. Here are some shots from our trip.
Big thanks to Ryan Lindow for capturing some great shots for us on our trip.
